The UK GOV has made £98m available to help companies develop innovative technology to help people age happily and healthily.
Opening for applications this week is the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund: Healthy Ageing Challenge offering grants of up to 70% to help develop innovative solutions for an ageing population.
The average life expectancy is rising rapidly. In fact, it’s now thought that the children born today will be expected to live to 100. We have to ask what kind of pressures and challenges does this mean for our Health Services, as more of our older generation look for ways to lead healthy, active lives.
As part of the Ageing Society Grand Challenge, Innovate UK (part of UK Research and Innovation) are looking for businesses and organisations who have ideas, or who are developing new products or services that will support a healthy lifestyle for people in their older years.
With up to £98 million funding available across the whole project, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
Focus Areas
Projects considered need to meet one (or more) of the 7 themes of the Healthy Ageing Challenge Framework. These themes include;
- Sustaining physical activity
- Maintaining health at work
- Designing for age-friendly homes
- Managing common complaints of ageing
- Living well with cognitive impairment
- Supporting social connections
- Creating healthy and active places
Applications will be considered from businesses and public sector organisations of any size.
