Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest up to £25 million in the best game-changing or disruptive ideas with a view to commercialisation.
In
particular, Innovate UK are looking for new, game-changing or
disruptive processes or services that have the potential to improve and
transform people’s lives, industries and the world. These ideas should
have a considerable positive impact to UK productivity and the economy and a
high potential for commercialisation within the UK and wider global
markets.
All proposals must be business focused, rather than pure research. However,
applications can come from any area of technology (including arts, design,
media or creative industries), science or engineering and can be applied to any
part of the economy.
Funding details
Innovate UK have allocated up to £25 million to fund a number
of innovation projects in this competition. However, certain restrictions do
apply;
- projects with a duration between 6 and 18 months have total eligible project costs between £25,000 and £500,000 (this can be a single company or a collaboration).
- projects with a duration between 19 and 36 months have total eligible project costs between £25,000 and £2 million (collaboration only).
Funding is available up to the following levels;
- up to 70% if you are a small business
- up to 60% if you are a medium-sized business
- up to 50% if you are a large business

Other Opportunities
Don’t forget, there are other project opportunities currently available, including;
UK businesses can apply for a share of up to £1 million to develop innovative proposals with Singapore and other EUREKA countries. Closing date 19th September.
There is a share of up to £1.7 million for UK businesses to develop innovative technologies for global composites markets with US partners. Closing date 21st August.
Organisations in the UK can apply for a share
of up to £30 million to develop clean, cheap local energy systems that create
prosperous, resilient UK communities. This funding is from the ISCF’s
Prospering from the Energy Revolution challenge. Closing date 7th August.
