Tatton Consulting supported KAPDAA in its successful application to Collaborative AI Solutions, awarded £1,032,823 by Innovate UK for the project Portable AiFibres – developing a portable, easy to use scanning and sorting system for waste garments and fabrics.
About the funded R&D project
Textile waste is generated everywhere and processed in very few places, so the economics are dominated by transporting low-value material. A portable scanning and sorting system moves the sorting step to the waste rather than the reverse, using the same deep learning, computer vision, multispectral sensing and robotics stack in a form that can be deployed at a collection point.
