Tatton Consulting supported Oxford-based T-cell receptor discovery company Exogene in its successful application to Biomedical Catalyst 2023 Round 1: Industry-led R&D, which was awarded £465,507 by Innovate UK for the project RMISTCR – Rapidly mining the immune system for rare therapeutic T-Cell Receptors to treat solid tumour cancers.
About the funded R&D project
T-cell receptor therapies reprogramme a patient’s own immune cells to recognise and destroy solid tumours, and are among the more promising routes to treating cancers that do not respond to existing options. The bottleneck is discovery: the receptors capable of driving that response are rare, and finding them is slow and expensive. The project develops methods to mine the immune system for these rare therapeutic receptors at higher throughput, addressing the NHS Long Term Plan’s stated need for curative solid tumour treatments that can be delivered affordably.
