Tatton Consulting supported London and Lausanne-based hormone biosensing company Impli in its successful application to the SPRIND Continuous Hormone Monitoring Challenge, awarded €1,500,000 for the project Continuous multi-hormone biosensing platform.
About the funded R&D project
SPRIND, the German Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation, runs its €40m Continuous Hormone Monitoring Challenge as a staged race rather than a single award: eight international teams were selected for Stage 1 from a field entering at TRL3, narrowing to six and then four across three twelve-month stages to 2029. Each team must build a biosensor measuring at least four hormones from a panel including estrogen, progesterone, LH, FSH, testosterone and cortisol, continuously, over at least seven consecutive days, directly in a biological matrix. Proxy signals such as heart rate or skin temperature do not qualify. Impli’s entry is a minimally invasive needle-based device tracking reproductive and metabolic hormones simultaneously over a multi-day wear period, aimed at diagnosis and treatment selection in polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. Selection carries a €1.5m pre-commercial R&D contract in Stage 1, with up to €6m available per team across the programme.
