Tatton Consulting supported Westminster-based soft prosthetics company Koalaa in its successful application to Healthy Ageing Challenge Designed for Ageing, awarded £647,677 by Innovate UK for the project Koalaa Kommunity: A holistic soft-orthotics service to help the over 50’s adapt to upper-limb impairment and remain mobile, active and socially-connected in the community.
About the funded R&D project
Of the 1.3 million UK stroke survivors, around 77% have upper limb weakness or impairment. The consequence is not only difficulty with daily tasks but withdrawal from activities and social contact, which accelerates decline in both mental and physical health. This project develops a holistic soft-orthotics service addressing that pathway rather than the device alone.
