Tatton Consulting supported Birmingham-based pharmaceutical formulation company Mesox in its successful application to Flexible, agile, scalable medicine manufacturing, awarded £363,925 by Innovate UK for the project A model-based scalable and cost-effective process platform to facilitate the manufacture of complex long-acting injectable (LAI) microspheres. The total Innovate UK grant across all project partners was £542,014.

About the funded R&D project

Long-acting injectables can transform treatment adherence, and most research has gone into new active ingredients rather than into how these products are manufactured. Release profile turns out to be sensitive to manufacturing process, so a formulation that works in the lab can behave differently at production scale. This project develops a model-based process platform to make that relationship predictable.
