Tatton Consulting supported Quantum Solutions in its successful application to Innovate UK Smart Grants, awarded £347,162 by Innovate UK for the project IAQD – Unlocking the potential of Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) sensors with novel InAs Quantum Dots technology.
About the funded R&D project
Short wave infrared imaging sees through fog, smoke and packaging, and reads moisture and material composition that visible light cannot. It has stayed out of consumer electronics because the sensors are expensive and complex to manufacture. Building on existing lead sulphide quantum dot technology, this project develops indium arsenide quantum dots to address the cost, toxicity and response time constraints together, since removing only one of the three does not open the market.
