About the funded R&D project
Deep brain stimulation can substantially reduce Parkinson’s symptoms, but setting the stimulation parameters is a slow clinical process resting on subjective assessment. SERG-one applies AI to mechanomyography, measuring the mechanical signal of muscle contraction rather than the electrical one, to give clinicians an objective basis for that parametrisation. The award came through i4i Product Development Awards Call 25, where the application carries the NIHR reference NIHR205486 and Programme Committee B recorded a recommendation to support.
