Tatton Consulting supported Kensington and Chelsea-based Imperial College spinout developing Parkinson’s assessment technology SERG in its successful application to Biomedical Catalyst 2023 Round 1: Industry-led R&D, awarded £283,540 by Innovate UK for the project SERG ONE DBS – an intelligent mechanomyography sensor platform for precise, deep brain stimulation parametrisation to treat Parkinson’s Disease. The total Innovate UK grant across all project partners was £454,472.
About the funded R&D project
Deep brain stimulation can substantially reduce Parkinson’s symptoms, but setting the stimulation parameters correctly is a slow clinical process based on subjective assessment. SERG Technologies, an Imperial College spin-out, works with St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust over 15 months to develop its patented TRL4 telemedicine assessment device into a mechanomyography sensor platform capable of informing that parametrisation objectively.
