Tatton Consulting supported Epping Forest-based mobility and gait technology company Walk With Path in its successful application to Biomedical Catalyst 2022 Round 1: Industry-led R&D, awarded £268,631 by Innovate UK for the project Assessing the feasibility of a sensor-rich gait wearable and advanced behavioural science platform to improve care and rehabilitation outcomes for knee arthroplasty patients. The total Innovate UK grant across all project partners was £384,180.
About the funded R&D project
Over 125,400 total knee arthroplasties are performed in the UK each year at a cost to the NHS of around £812m. The last decade has brought a 39% cost increase and a 33% increase in surgical delays. Path Insight is an at-home gait monitoring system built on the company’s patented sensing work, assessed here for feasibility in managing that pathway outside hospital.
