About the funded R&D project
China refines 60-70% of the lithium and cobalt used in batteries, a concentration that presents a security-of-supply risk to both the UK and Singapore. This bilateral project pairs UK and Singaporean capability on sustainable EV battery recycling, addressing a dependency neither country can resolve alone.
