Tatton Consulting supported Growing Underground in its successful application to ISCF Productive and Sustainable Crop and Livestock Systems, awarded £989,807 by Innovate UK for the project Co-ordinated technology development to provide an optimised and integrated system of leading vertical farming technologies.

About the funded R&D project

Vertical farming grows well as a set of individual technologies and badly as a system: lighting, hydroponics, climate control and automation are each developed by different suppliers optimising for different things. This project integrated leading vertical farming technologies into a co-ordinated system, which is the step that determines whether the sector’s energy and yield economics work at commercial scale.
