About the funded R&D project
NHS burns services treated more than 15,000 patients in 2017 at a cost exceeding £20m, with the most severe cases costing around £95,000 each to treat and a true cost per patient approaching £126,000 once lost productivity and mental health are counted. The project uses peptides and nanoparticle technology to control the inflammatory response driving that damage.
