Tatton Consulting supported City of London-based concrete monitoring technology company Cloud Cycle in its successful application to Innovate UK Smart grants: April 2024, which was awarded £340,203 by Innovate UK for the project The development of advanced Digital Monitoring techniques to overcome critical market challenges in the adoption of Low Carbon Concrete.
About the funded R&D project
Almost 90% of concrete’s greenhouse gas emissions come from producing Portland cement clinker, so reducing clinker content is the primary decarbonisation route. Adoption is held back by technical uncertainty over the mechanical performance, batch consistency and durability of low-binder mixes. The project develops advanced digital monitoring techniques to resolve that uncertainty, addressing the barrier to adoption rather than the mix chemistry itself.
