Tatton Consulting supported KAPDAA in its successful application to Creative Catalyst, awarded £49,967 by Innovate UK for the project Sustainable non-woven insulation made from UK fashion textile waste.
About the funded R&D project
Around 14.3 million tonnes of textile waste goes to landfill globally each year, nearly 5% of all landfill space. WRAP estimated 350,000 tonnes of UK clothing landfilled annually, equivalent to every person discarding more than 5kg a year. This project developed non-woven insulation from that waste stream, giving low-grade material a destination where fibre purity matters less than it does in garment-to-garment recycling.
