Tatton Consulting supported London-based seaweed materials company Notpla in its successful application to Sustainable Bio-Based Materials and Manufacturing, awarded £641,316 by Innovate UK for the project From seaweed farm to seaweed fork.
About the funded R&D project
Notpla makes packaging from seaweed and plants that biodegrades naturally, and won the Earthshot Prize for it. This project addresses the supply chain end rather than the material: taking seaweed from farm to finished product requires a processing route that does not yet exist at industrial scale in the UK, and the economics of the material depend on it.
