Tatton Consulting supported Southwark-based biological pest control company Omma in its successful application to Advanced manufacturing supply chain innovation FS, awarded £67,883 by Innovate UK for the project Advanced Manufacturing of Insect Feedstocks for Biocontrol Production.
About the funded R&D project
Predatory insects such as Orius and green lacewings are used worldwide instead of chemical pesticides in protected horticulture, and rearing them depends on a feedstock of Ephestia kuehniella eggs. Omma and Entocycle are developing automated production of that feedstock, addressing the supply constraint on biological pest control rather than the predators themselves.
